Milford is a southern New Hampshire town belonging to Hillsborough County on the Souhegan River. Located at the junction of New Hampshire routes 13 & 101A, Milford is the retail and manufacturing center of six-town area known informally as the Souhegan Valley.
An interesting fact about Milford is this town used to be a stop on the Underground Railroad for escaped slaves and was also home to Harriet E. Wilson, who published semi- autobiographical novel Our Nig in 1859, making it the first novel by an African American published in the country.
